Silvery, small leaves conserve water by reducing transpiration and many of these plants are also aromatic. Lavender and rosemary are typical plants for this type of look. Once established, this border will require little or no further watering. These plants thrive in full sun with well-drained soil preferred. Pruning is required each March/April to prevent plants getting ‘leggy’. Climbers/ wall shrubs include, ceanothus, trachelospermum, jasmine, campsis and clematis.
