Attracting wildlife into the garden is vital to address the balance, as so much of our countryside and gardens are under threat from developement. It’s lovely to see birds and other creatures close to us and sharing our gardens. There are lots of plants that are attractive to wildlife, think of buddleia covered in butterfies or your pyracantha berries being enjoyed by blackbirds in winter. Even conifers are great places for birds to protect themselves from cold and to nest in. Bumble and honey bees are both in need of our help as their numbers are dwindling. Nectar rich flowers such as Echinacea and Sedum are not only beautiful, but a magnet for many beneficial insects.
